Donald "Campy" Eugene Camp, 80, of Covington, passed away Saturday March 16, 2013, at Bath VA Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 30, 1932, in Waterbury, Conn., he was the son of the late Eugene Miles Camp and Ruth Woodley Camp. On June 26, 1954, he married the former Caroline Honeymann.
He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Washington National Insurance. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Blossburg; William B. Wilson American Legion Post #572, Blossburg; and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Camp, along with his wife, Caroline were foster parents to 33 children. He also enjoyed camping.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Caroline of Covington, are his children, Eugene Donald (Barbara) Camp of Auburn, Maine, Cynthia (Mike) Todd of Montgomery, Thomas (Judy) Camp of Poquoson, Va., Sally (Bill) Faughnan of Covington, James Camp of Linden, Barbara (Tony) Cruz of Moosic; also are grandchildren, William Faughnan Jr., Robert Faughnan, Michael Todd Jr., Andrea Todd, Jessica Todd, Thomas Camp Jr., Sarah Fordham, Matthew Camp; six great-grandchildren, and a cousin Wilfred "Sonny" Camp. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends were received today, Wednesday March 20, at the First United Methodist Church, Blossburg from 10 to 11 a.m., services followed at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michele Somerville, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Bath National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg.
