George Gillespie, 94 of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Mansfield, passed on Monday, April 8, 2013.

Born July 29, 1918, in Walden, N.Y., he was the son of Harrison Gillespie and Sarah Jane Roberts.
He grew up in the Red Bank, N.J. area and as a young adult moved to Mansfield, where he farmed and was prominent in many local organizations. He retired to Englewood, Fla. to enjoy life by the water.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and daughters, Diane (Tom) Wallon, Sharon (Nat Pendleton) Furman; grandchildren, Dru and Shea (Betsy) Wallon; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Davis Wallon; two nieces, Helen (Jon) Cantor, Suzanne Gillespie; and one nephew, John (Linda) Masters Jr.
He was a bright gentleman, who loved crossword puzzles and was loved by all.
As per George's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. His ashes will be spread at a later date.
