William C. Newton Jr., 58, of Kunkletown, passed away Tuesday, April 9, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was a crane operator for the George Harms Construction Co., Howell, N.J.
He was a son of William C. and Mayme K. (Volkert) Newton of Lehighton.
Newton was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the 8th Ord. Co., attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
The deceased was a member of the Lehighton American Legion Post 314 and a member of its Vietnam Last Man's Club. He was a life member of Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1, Lehighton.
He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and loved to ride his bikes.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter Melissa of Atlanta, Ga.; a son Christopher of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Thomas, and his wife, Tracy, of Lehighton, and Robert of Whitehall; and three nephews, Michael, Keith and Nicholas Newton.
Service: Celebration of Life service 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton, with the Rev. Donald W. Hayn officiating. Military honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO will follow the service. Private interment at convenience of family. Call 9-10 a.m. Thursday. I am sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I served with him in 497th Engineer Co. Ft Eustice, VA . 76-77. He was well liked and affectionally known as "Newt"

Newton Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Charky. We spent every summer while growing up at the Covered Bridge with him. We have so many fond memories of Charky and all the Volkert cousins. Rest in peace Charky. You will always be in our hearts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about "Chark's" passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Chark was one of my favorite cousins and I have fond memories of him from when we were young. I will always cherish those memories.
