Abazly, Anam - Tamaqua  
Anam Abazly Anam Abazly, 71, of Rush Township, Tamaqua, passed away on Sunday, April 24, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Susan A. (Cole) Abazly. They were married for 28 years. He was an assistant plant manager for Poly Plastics, Delano, for many years. Born on Sunday, April 15, 1945, in Syria, he was a son of the late Ahdali and Miriam Abazly. He was a talented mechanic and craftsman and had the ability to fix anything. He loved to tinker around the house. Anam enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors. Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Wisam "Sam" Abazly of Tamaqua; a brother Bassam Abazly, and his wife, Genevieve, and their son, Bassam, of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers-in-law, Mark Cole, and his wife, Karen, their son, Mark, and Charles Cole, and his wife, Carol, and their daughter, Briana, both of Freeland; and many siblings, nieces and nephews living abroad. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Susan Abazly, who died in 1995. Service: Funeral service 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Burrell, Bruce W. - Philadelphia  
Bruce W. Burrell Bruce W. Burrell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in his home in Buckingham, Bucks County, surrounded by family. He was 82 years old. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Gloria (Kline) Burrell. Father of Betsy Petch, Barbara McCann, and her husband John, and Bonnie Dahl; and "Buddy" of four grand-daughters, Sandra David and her husband Keith, Jessica Wolfgang and her husband, David, Dr. Kathleen McCann and her husband, Dr. Robert Meehan, and Meghan McCann; and three great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Johnathan David, and Taylor Wolfgang. Born in Tamaqua on Feb. 17, 1934, Bruce was the son of William H. and Bessie (Kersh-ner) Burrell. Bruce graduated from Tamaqua High School, 1951, and the Williamson College of the Trades, Class of 1954. In 2015, Bruce received the Williamson Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2002 he was inducted into the Williamson Athletic Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Burrell, and grandson, Gregory McCann. Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, classmate, neighbor and friend. Bruce started his own business, Burrell Masonry Inc., in 1968 and retired in 1998. Following his retirement, he worked part time at Lafferty Chevrolet. He also served as a Trowel Trades Craft Advisor for Middle Bucks Vocational Technical School. In high school and trade school, Bruce was an outstanding athlete, participating in football, basketball, baseball and track. He also played semi-pro basketball and football in the Philadelphia area. He enjoyed softball, tennis, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Bruce leaves behind a legacy of devotion to Williamson, which he credits for providing a solid foundation upon which he has built his life. Service: A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Clubhouse at Buckingham Springs, 1490 Durham Road, New Hope, on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Williamson College of the Trades, 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063. The Delaware Valley Cremation Center, Philadelphia, is in charge of arrangements.

Daniels, Peter J. - Lehighton  
Peter J. Daniels Peter J. Daniels, 86, of Ashley Lane, Lehighton, East Penn Township, died Tuesday morning, April 26, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Ward) Daniels since Feb. 29, 1992. He was a driver for the former Oneida Trucking Co., Carlstadt, N.J., for over 30 years before retiring in 1992.Born in Passaic, N.J., he was a son of the late Cornelius and Ann (Hontivich) Daniels. He was a member of and volunteer worker for the Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Lehighton. An avid bowler, he belonged to senior leagues at Haja Lanes, Palmerton. Peter enjoyed the Carbon County Senior Games and participated in the horseshoe competition. Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Lisa, wife of Roger Kopeck of Wallington, N.J., Carol, wife of Angelo Zotos of Bound Brook, N.J., and Barbara Taylor of Waldwick, N.J.; two sons, Peter, and his wife, Paula Taylor, of Minerva, N.Y., and Donald, and his wife, Lynn Taylor, of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Shimaka. Service: Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Flores, Edward P. - Bath  
Edward P. Flores Edward P. Flores, 73, of Slatington, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 21, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Diane G. (Hillmann) Flores, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage last Nov. 23. He was employed by Reeb Millwork, Fountain Hill, where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring as an inventory clerk. Earlier in his career, he served as a New Jersey State Trooper. After retiring, he was a newspaper delivery man for the Lehighton Times News. Born in Passaic, N.J., on Sept. 21, 1942, he was a son of the late Edward M. and Sylvia L. (Agnello) Flores.A graduate of Passaic High School, he later honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. Additionally, he graduated from the New Jersey State Police Academy. Flores enjoyed attending flea markets and yard sales, but, most importantly, cherished spending time with his granddaughters. He was a member of Blue Mountain Community Church, Palmerton. Surviving in addition to his loving wife are a son, Brett E. Gunther of Northampton; two daughters, Tonya D. Gunther of Slatington and Maria Flores of Greenacres, FL; two granddaughters, Zoe and Kyra; two brothers, William S., and his wife, Dale Ann, of Moore Township, and Michael M., and his fiancée, Linda Willis, of Whitehall; three sisters, Evelyn Burns of Clifton, N.J., June Vaughan of Point Phillips and Louise, wife of Rich Grabowski of Danielsville; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph E. Lesisko Joseph Edward Lesisko, 84, of Lehigh Street, Jim Thorpe, passed away on Saturday, April 24, in Gibsonia, PA. He was fondly known as "Brother Joe" to his friends and family. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise (Izzo) Lesisko. He was employed by Acme Markets for over 40 years as a produce manager. Born in Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Michael and Julia (Pastor) Lesisko. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe. The deceased enjoyed reading, gardening and leaving all he met with a laugh and a smile. Surviving are a son Andrew of Jim Thorpe; a daughter Joanne, wife of Brian Caricato of Gibsonia; two grandchildren, Juliana and Anton Caricato; a sister Pauline of Lehighton; and many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas, Bernard, William, Robert and Norbert; and three sisters, Dorothy Leyer, Joan and Margaret Snyder. Mrs. Karen S. Mahar Mrs. Karen S. Mahar, 72, of Penn Forest, Jim Thorpe, passed away Monday, April 25, in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the wife of Robert C. Mahar. They were married for 51 years. She was a laboratory technician at the Research Lab, Columbian Carbon, N.J., Exide Battery, Yardley, and Pillsbury, Pennsburg, retiring there in 1993. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Gwendolyn (Vernier) Singer. She was a graduate of the former Valley Academy, Syracuse, where she was the valedictorian of her class, and attended Syracuse University, majoring in chemistry. Karen was an incredibly intelligent and very giving person. She was happy to share her knowledge with others. She was very musical and artistic and had a passion for ceramics. She also enjoyed reading. She loved animals and raised dogs for obedience training. Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Katherine M. Foley of New Tripoli; a son, Robert Charles Mahar, and his wife, Judith, of Wescosville; two sisters, Margaret Singer of Groton, N.Y., and Sarah, wife of Sheldon Wesson of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, Shane, Griffin, Abigail and Robert; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Mele, Angelo C. - Nesquehoning  
Angelo C. Mele Angelo C. "Fats" Mele, 86, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 27, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Citrano) Mele. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in June of last year. He was employed by Tarkett, Inc., Whitehall, as a forklift operator for 26 years until retiring. Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Louis Sr. and Lillian (Santore) Mele. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War with Company A of the 7th Cavalry Regiment. Angelo was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a lifelong member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, now the Shrine of St. Therese, and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, V.F.W. Post 8008, the American Legion Post and the New Columbus Fire Company, all of Nesquehoning. Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter Donna, wife of Ray Marusak of Nesquehoning; a son, Angelo J., and his wife, Lori, of Lehighton; two sisters, Kathryn Mele and Anna Mae Mele, and a brother, Anthony J., and his wife, Louise, all of Nesquehoning; five grandchildren, Lauren Folk, Joseph Folk, Taylor Mele, Vincent Mele and Damian Mele; a great-grandson, Andrew Stempa; a sister-in-law, Gena Mele; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael D. and Louis W. Jr., and a sister, Lucy C. Mele. Kenneth E. Miller Kenneth E. Miller, 88, of Mahoning Township, passed away on Monday, April 25, in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara M. (Cunfer) Miller. They were married for 10 years on Jan. 15, 2016. He worked for Firestone Tire Co., Pottstown, and most recently retired from the Pottstown School District, where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was formerly married to the late Ruth U. (Balliet) Miller. Born in Mantzville, he was a son of the late Edgar and Beulah (Fritz) Miller. He was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Bowmanstown. He loved spending time with his loving wife and family, and, in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert W. Miller Robert W. Miller Sr., 58, of Penn Forest, Jim Thorpe, passed away on Monday, April 25, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
