Mrs. Alicia M. Brode, wife, mother and devoted MaMaw, 58, of Railroad Avenue, New Ringgold, passed away on Monday evening, May 19, in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of Edward P. "Butch" Brode.
She worked her entire career (35 years) at the Hamburg Center, retiring in 2011 in a supervisory role.
Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Albert M., and Virginia M. (Karlavage) Klatka, who died April 5, 2014.
She was of the Catholic faith.
The deceased was a member of the Middleport American Legion Auxiliary.
A 1973 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School, she matriculated to the Reading School of Nursing.
She loved the outdoors, whether working in the garden or looking for Indian artifacts. She also had a fondness for turtles.
She enjoyed arts and crafts and had the ability to take innate objects and create beautiful gifts.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Joseph M., and his wife, Holly, of Barnesville; a daughter, Maria T. (Bones), wife of Randall Burke, and a stepdaughter, Heather D. (Brode) Massar, and her companion, Kenneth Johnson, both of Tamaqua; five grandchildren, whom she adored and loved, Kelsey, Sarah, Nash, Ella and Adalyn Alicia; a brother; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Service: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating.
