Charles E. Shaffer
Charles E. Shaffer, 80, of Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning, died Sunday, Oct. 6, in his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Rex) Shaffer.
He worked as a machinist for Blue Ridge Pressure Castings, Lehighton, and retired from Barrett Haentjens and Co., Hazleton, in 1994 after 19 years of service.
A graduate of Lehighton Area High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having served as a corporal in Germany.He was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
- Born in East Weissport, he was a son of the late Clifford W. and Pearl (Moser) Shaffer.
He was a member of Jacob United Church of Christ, Weissport.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Terry J., wife of Andrew Clemson of Lafayette Hill; a sister, Christine M., wife of James Anewalt, and four brothers, Mahlon W., and Gladys, Miles, and his wife, Orpha, Clifford W. Jr., and his wife, Corrine, and James, and his wife, Nancy, all of Lehighton; and many nieces and nephews.
Service: Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport. Contributions in his name may be made to the St. Luke Hospice, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, Pa. 18015.
