Christian Dornbierer, 92, of New Ringgold, died Saturday, April 12, in his home. He was the husband of the late Margrit (Schmid) Dornbierer, who died Dec. 8, 2002.
He was the founder and president of the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat and also started and operated Blue Mountain Farms, both of New Ringgold. Previously, he owned Chris Dornbierer Green Houses, East Hanover, N.J.
Born in Thal, Switzerland, he was a son of the late Christian and Anna (Dornbierer) Dornbierer.
He enjoyed gardening, but his true passion in life was the retreat. He lived to bring people closer to the Lord in a very personal way.
He was preceded in death by a sister Annie.
Surviving are a daughter Helen, wife of Bob Miller of New Ringgold; a son Steven, and his wife, Penny, of Davenport, Neb.; a sister Ruth in Switzerland; eight grandchildren, Corrie, wife of Jesse Maurer, Andrew Miller, and his wife, Christina, Jonathan Miller, and his wife, Stephanie, Benjamin Miller, Jordan Dornbierer, and his wife, Aleisa, Danielle, wife of Ehren Whigham, Rebecca, wife of Andy Jobman, and Christina Dornbierer; and six great-grandchildren, Joel and Giavianna Miller, Jack and Henry Dornbierer and Gabriel and Grace Whigham.
Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, Blue Mountain Christian Retreat, 1 Christian Lane, New Ringgold, with the Rev. Paul Johansson officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the retreat. Contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat to create a memorial fund in his name.
