Dennis C. "Double D" Dotter, 60, 326 N. Third St., Lehighton, passed away Feb. 12, 2014, at his residence.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Lewis H. and Margaret V. Barilla Dotter.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. During his enlistment he served in security with Air Force One during President Carter's administration.
During the Iraqi Hostage Incident, he was highly involved with the transport of hostages after their release.
He was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton.
He was a member of the Lehighton American Legion Post 314, The Lehighton VFW Post 256, The Packerton Old Timers Association, The Lehighton Orioles Nest 183, and a life member of Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt small and large game, and also won several Bass Fishing Tournaments while stationed in St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are a sister, Deborah A., wife of Joseph F. Curran Sr., Lehighton; a great niece and great nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, David L. Dotter, in 1976.
Services: 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton with the Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Call 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
