George C. Quinn, 72, of Franklin Avenue, Palmerton, died Monday morning, Feb. 18, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Carol A. (Naratil) Quinn since Sept. 7, 1963.
He worked in the waelzing/separation department for Horsehead Industries, the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for 40 years before retiring in 2003.
Born in Ashfield, East Penn Township, he was a son of the late Donald and Margaret (Eck) Quinn.
He was of the Reformed faith.
Quinn was a Pa. Army National Guard veteran of the Vietnam War
, having served with the 165th Military Police Battalion and attained the rank of Specialist 4.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. In his spare time, he enjoyed working as a house painter.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Sharon P., wife of the Rev. Donald J. Schaidle II of Carbondale; two sons, William D., and his companion, Lorrie A. Gennaro, and Shawn J., and his wife, Tammy, both of Palmerton; five grandchildren, Kody, Breanna, Zachary, Madison and Hannah; a sister, Betty Kleintop of Palmerton; two brothers, Robert, and his wife, Shirley, in Kansas, and Terry and JoAnn of Ashfield; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey and Dorothy Frohnheiser; and a brother Donald. Service:
