Gloria Carpency

Mrs. Gloria Lafferty Carpency, 83, of Tamaqua, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Tamaqua. She was the widow of Louis J. "Carpy" Carpency, who died March 26, 2008.
A daughter of the late Frank Hlavaty and the late Mary (Gober) Hlavaty- Krunglevich, she was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
She was a graduate of Tamaqua High School and had been active in the St. Peter's Retirees, Mantzville, Panther Valley Golden Agers and New Ringgold Seniors. She was also a Red Hatter.
Surviving are two sons, Frank M., and his wife, Sindy, of Gaithersburg, Md., and David S., and his wife, Theresa, of Allentown; seven grandchildren, Jobi, wife of Kevin Westhoven, Jill, wife of Michael Keenan, Mandy Carpency-Schlosburg, and her husband, Russ, Ian Carpency and Scott, Stacey and Kelly Carpency; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Gavin and Morgan Keenan, Ethan and Riley Schlosburg and Brendan Westhoven.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Peter Kruglevich.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
