Gregory M. Hummel

Gregory M. Hummel, 29, of White Street, Weissport, died suddenly early Sunday morning, Feb 17, after being involved in an accident near his home.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of Terri L. (Hummel), wife of Donald L. Rehrig of Franklin Township, and Michael G. Fairchild of Lehighton.
He had worked as a machinist for Blue Ridge Pressure Casting, Lehighton.
Previously, he worked for various construction companies in the Lehighton area.He attended Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown.
He enjoyed auto body and auto mechanic work, and was an avid NASCAR and professional sports fan. He also enjoyed fishing.
Surviving in addition to his mother and stepfather are two sisters, Ashley M. Rehrig, with whom he resided, and Timara M. Reed of Cinncinatti, Ohio; a brother, Christopher Mertz of Weissport; paternal grandparents, Larry and Cathy Fairchild of Ashfield and Ann (Mriss) Fairchild of Lehighton; paternal great-grandmother, Norma Mriss of Packerton; maternal grandparents, David and Marie (Barnayk) Hummel of Franklin Township; a brother-in-law, Hawkhogan M. Brinser of Bowmanstown; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service: Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview St., Lehighton. Interment, private. Call 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Contributions may be made to the family, c/o the funeral home, 18235. Online condolences can be offered at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
