Harold C. Zellner
Harold C. "Hurley" Zellner, 90, of 2489 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Madeline E. Miller Zellner who died Oct. 1, 1996.
Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Moses and Emma Sittler Zellner.
He served our country with the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic in the 4th Infantry Division attaining the rank of PFC.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Tam Pallet in New Mahoning as a truck driver and previously worked as a rope man for 18 years at the Coaldale Breaker.
He was of the protestant faith.
He was a member of The Lehighton American Legion Post 314, a charter and life member of Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Co., and volunteered for the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association.
In his spare time , he loved being with his family, gardening, and as an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, feeding and watching wildlife. He was a former member of Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving is a son, James Zellner and his wife, Mary; two daughters, Marlene, wife of Donald Woodward; and Shirley, wife of Michael Anglovich of Lehighton; two sisters, Julia Schaeffer of Andreas; and Emma Sterling, status unknown; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace, Reuben and William and three sisters, Mabel Graver, Lillian Ripkey, and Alice Schaeffer.
Services: Funeral services, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Christopher deForest officiating. Call 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
