Helen L. Wentz

After several months of health struggles, Helen Lazovi Wentz passed away gently at the Celtic HealthCare Hospice. She was surrounded by the "loves of her life," her son Robert F.; two grandsons, Robert II and Joseph D.; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Peggy (Bromfield) Wentz of Nanticoke.
A daughter of immigrants, Helen was born Sept. 14, 1932, the seventh of nine children.
She attended Pottsville High School and was employed for many years at Phillips & Jones, where she worked as a sewing machine operator.Born and raised in Seltzer, she lived most of her adult life in Tamaqua after her marriage in 1960 to Franklin Wentz Jr. While in Tamaqua, she was a member of St Jerome Catholic Church.
In 2007, she moved to Nanticoke to live near her son and family and became a member of St. Foustina Catholic Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Franklin; three infant daughters who she longed for her entire life -Cathlene, Lisa and Linda Jean; her parents, John Joseph and Mary Antoinette (Martinko) Lazovi; brothers, Joseph, Joseph John, John Joseph, Joseph Edward and Francis Clemont; and sisters, Mary Purcell and Margaret Pohronezny.
In addition to her son and grandsons, Helen is survived by her beloved sister Anne, wife of Joe Skrincosky of Pottsville; three sisters-in-law, Joyce and Mary of Seltzer and Dorothy of Pottsville; two brothers-in-law, George Harris of Seltzer and Alex Pohronezny of Hummelstown; many adoring nieces and nephews; as well as her loving Wentz family; Joan (Gene) Fritz and Richard (Georgene) Wentz, all of Tamaqua.
Helen lived her life in a good and simple manner, making her family the center of her world. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.
