Jeffrey C. Rider Jr., 21, of Jim Thorpe, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2.
- He was employed as a foreman of the Railroad Division of DBI, Hazleton.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of Jeffrey C. Rider Sr. of Jim Thorpe and Holly Rider of Jim Thorpe.He was a 2010 graduate of the welding program of the Carbon Career and Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, where he excelled in multiple D.E.C.A. competitions.
He won a second place trophy in the Auto Services Marketing at the D.E.C.A. District 7 competition and moved on to the state D.E.C.A. competition in Hershey, where he won three medals in Auto Services Marketing.
In his spare time, he enjoyed baseball, snowboarding, quad racing, NASCAR, welding and mechanics. He was also an accomplished dirt car driver, having won numerous awards and trophies. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as working on his VW.
Surviving in addition to his parents are three sisters, Jessalyn, Amanda and Jenny; four brothers, Jonathan, Lance, Rodney and Chris; grandparents, Judith A. Christman and Joyce Binder; aunts, Lori A. Green, Susan M. Christman, Jan M. Whiteman and Janie Hoffner; uncles, Ronald l. Christman jr., Robert A. Christman and Jake R. Binder; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald L. Christman Sr. Service:
