Mrs. Joan Audrey Herring, 78, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 6, in the Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, Pa. She was the widow of Robert J. Herring, who died in 1999.
She was an elementary school teacher in Manheim Town-ship for 31 years.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Dorothea (Folk) Schweitzer.She was a graduate of Kutztown University and received her master's degree from Millersville University.
The deceased was a very active member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster.
She loved music, crafts and traveling, including trips to the shore.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn of Lancaster and Robin of Windsor, Pa.; a grandson, Michael Herring of Windsor; and two brothers, Carl, and his wife, MaryAnn, of Lehighton, and Lee of Penn Run, Pa.
Service: Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, St. Matthew Church, 700 Pleasure Rd., Lancaster. Private interment at convenience of family. Call 1-2 p.m. Monday in the church.
