Joseph A. Brand

Joseph A. Brand, 83, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at home. He married Virginia H. Gieniec on Nov. 12, 1950.
He was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Delano, Pa. Joe grew up in Lansford, PA.
He and his wife lived in Summit Hill, PA, where they raised their three children until 2011 when they moved to Green Bay.Joe was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Parish in Summit Hill where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
In Green Bay he was a member of St. Anne's Church in DePere.
He served in the Korean War as a Corporal in the Army 169th Infantry regiment stationed in Germany.
He worked for the Summit Hill Marble and Granite Company before he became the manager of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Store in Lansford, PA.
Upon retirement Joe enjoyed helping his wife in the kitchen, making and smoking (the BEST) Polish sausage-kielbasa, going to the casino and spending time with his friends and family, especially his six grandchildren. He loved eating pierogies, ice cream and chocolate!
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughter, Marie Maass and her son Tristan; sons, Joseph (Virginia) Brand and their children, Emily, Elizabeth and Michael; David (Jeanette) Brand and their children, Gabriella and Christian; and many other relatives and friends.
Services: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Anne's Church, 347 S. Libal St., DePere, with the Rev. Eric Mills officiating. Interment be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at St. Anne's Church.
