Mrs. Joyce E. Schafer, 85, of Fairyland Road, Lehighton, passed away Saturday, June 7, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township.
She was the widow of Oscar Forrest "Tommy" Schafer, who died Feb. 20, 1983.
She had worked at the former Baer Silk Mill, Lehighton.She and her husband owned and operated the "Tommy Schafer Music Store" on Lentz Trail in Jim Thorpe for many years.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late William V. and Lottie Elva F. (Frantz) Kresge.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Franklin Township.
She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also loved her home in Florida.
Surviving are a son, Thomas H., and his wife, Bonita, of Jim Thorpe; a daughter Doretta, wife of Martin Kromer, with whom she resided; two sisters, Jean Everett of Easton and Elaine Knappenberger of Franklin Township; three grandchildren, Sherry Schafer of Blakeslee, Thomas H. Schafer Jr., and his wife, Melanie, of Jim Thorpe, and William Schafer, and his wife, Jocelyn, of Naples, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Addyson and Tom III; and nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by a brother Sherwood.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Nancy Moore officiating. Interment, St. Matthew Cemetery, Franklin Twp. Call 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.
