Kenneth R. Gernert, 74, of Schuylkill Road, New Ringgold, died Friday, Nov. 23. He was the husband of the late Phyllis R. (Shellhamer) Gernert, who died on May 11, 2009.
He was a cutter for Cressona Textile.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Russell and Esther (Neifert) Gernert.
Surviving are four daughters, Karen H., and her companion, Joseph Hanzarik, and Debbie A., wife of Luis Melendez, both of New Ringgold, Christine T., wife of Larry Breiner of Melina, and Kelly A., wife of George Zerbe of Washington; four sisters, Nancy, wife of Bill Godanis of Barnesville, Eleanor Schmerfeld and Carol Sedlock, both of Tamaqua, and Jean, wife of Dan Daubert in Florida; two brothers, Russell Jr., and his wife, LaVaerne, and Claude T., and his wife, Carol, both in Florida; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard C. Sr., who died Jan. 4, 2004. Service:
