Merrill H. Velitsky
Merrill H. Velitsky, 87, of 17 N. Oak St., Summit Hill, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John J. "Blue Jay" Velitsky.
Born in Summit Hill, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Edna (Ebberts) Hettler.
She was a graduate of the former Nesquehoning High School, Class of 1944.
She worked for the former Kiddie Kloes Garment Factory in Lansford and for the former Tony Wargo Garment Factory in Coaldale.
Merrill was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Summit Hill.
She was a former member of the Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Summit Hill American Legion Auxiliary. Merrill was an avid bingo player.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol Binder with whom she resided; a granddaughter, Amanda Miller of Nesquehoning; a great-grandson, Connor Penberth; a sister, Joan Kasprzak of Summit Hill; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Miller; and a brother, Marvin Hettler.
Service: Memorial service is on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in the Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, with the Rev. Marjorie Keiter officiating.
