Michael T. "The Goose" Gusick, 86, of Chestnut Street, Slatington, died late Wednesday evening, May 7, in Woodland Terrace, Salisbury Township.
He worked for many years for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation before retiring in 1997.
Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late John and Elizabella (Gaval-cin) Gusick.
He was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, Slatington.A 1945 graduate of the former Slatington High School, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, having participated in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He attained the rank of sergeant first class.
Gusick was a member of the Lehigh Gap Nature Center.
He enjoyed collecting Native American flint, arrowheads and artifacts.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda J. Gusick-Dunbar of Moore Township and Stephanie A., wife of Larry Eck Jr. of West Bowmans; two grandchildren, Alexis and Larry III; a sister, Agnes Lancsak of Slatington; his longtime companion, Bernice Wanamaker, with whom he resided; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Elizabeth; and two brothers, Joseph and Martin.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, Slatington, with the Rev. Joseph L. Grembocki officiating. Interment with military honors, parish cemetery, Washington Twp. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Contributions in his name may be made to the memorial fund of the church, 633-649 W.
