Mrs. Miriam R. "Mimi" (Lutz) Auge, 92, died Thursday, July 18, in the DuPage County Convalescent Center, Wheaton, Ill. She was the widow of John Wesley Nelson and Roger Auge.
Born and raised in Tamaqua, she left for Chicago, Ill., at the age of 20.
In Chicago, she went to work as a civilian clerk for the U.S. Army Air Corps.While there, she met her future husband, John Wesley Nelson, who was stationed in Florida with the U.S. Navy. After a whirlwind long-distance romance, they were married in 1943, eventually moving to Clarendon Hills, Ill., where they resided until his death in 1969.
In 1982, Miriam retired to Florida, where she met and married Roger Auge. He died in 1999.
She was an avid golfer and loved to attend dances with the other seniors in her neighborhood.
Surviving are two sons, John W. Nelson Jr. and Craig S. (Diane) Nelson; and three grandchildren, Brittany Nelson, Eric Nelson and Brad Nelson.
Service: Private funeral service and interment will take place in Tamaqua. Contributions in her name may be made to the DuPage County Convalescent Center Foundation, 400 N.
