Paul L. Getz
Paul L. Getz, 92, of Valparaiso, Ind., formerly of Tamaqua, died Jan. 19, in Indiana. He was the husband of the late Helen (nee Malisausku) Getz, who died in 2000.
Prior to retiring in 1979, he had been a conductor for the Reading Railroad/Conrail.
Born in Tamaqua on April 16, 1921, Paul was a son of the late Gabriel and Catherine (nee Slish) Getz. He was one of thirteen siblings.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a former member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
He attended schools in the Tamaqua School District before enlisting.
Paul is survived by daughters, Theresa Kopla and her husband, Paul J. of Valparaiso, Ind., and Virginia Jenkins and her husband, Craig of Lynnville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16, in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua. Interment, Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown.
