Phyllis D. Wassmer, 81, of 184 Center Rd. Lehighton, passed away Saturday, March 16 with her loving and caring family at her side. She was the wife of Edward C. Wassmer. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on March 12.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Leona M. Fronheiser Brown.
Prior to retirement she worked at Murphy's 5 & 10 cent store in Lehighton, and also worked in the garment industry for The WF Hofford Mill in Weissport until 1992.
She attended services at Jacob's UCC, Weissport, and was a member of The Gnaden Huetten Chapter, Order of The Eastern Star.
In her spare time she loved to play a game of Pinochle and was a member of The Lehighton Bowling League.
A family oriented person, she loved sharing her time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Brenda D. wife of Steve Oswald of New Tripoli, a son Wayne W. Wassmer and his wife, Lynn, of Andreas, two brothers, Richard Brown and his wife Dorothy, and Dawson Brown of Lehighton, four grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by one sister, Frances Bretz, and two brothers, Blaine and Lamont Brown.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Rev. Douglas D. Evans officiating.
