Ted "Juny" Fritz, 75, of 214 W. Water St., Lansford, passed away on Sunday, June 23, in the Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.
He was a graduate of the first graduating class of Marian High School, Class of 1955, and also graduated from East Stroudsburg University, where he received his teaching degree, and later graduated from Kutztown University, where he received his master's degree.He was a teacher for the Parkland School District for 30 years and prior to that had worked for the former Lansford Shoe Factory.
- Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John and Lucy (Mar-adeo) Fritz.
Ted received various teaching awards throughout his career and was an inductee in the Marian Hall of Fame, having been a tremendous athlete in football, basketball and baseball.
He was a member of the former St. Ann Catholic Church, Lansford, and a current member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.
Fritz was a member of the Lansford Italian Club for over 50 years and enjoyed dart shooting.
He was a Civil War enthusiast and an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Notre Dame football fan.
Surviving are two brothers, Francis of Allentown and Gabriel, and his wife, Dolores, of Lansford; a sister, Philomena Bloomfield of Whitehall; nieces and nephews, Cheryl, wife of Kurt Wilson, Edward Bloomfield, and his wife, Kristen, Marilyn, wife of Greg Gemmel, Carol Fritz, Gary Fritz, and his wife, Michele, Gabe Fritz, Lucy, wife of Anthony Kozuch, and Linda, wife of Chris Gasteier; several great-nieces and great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
He was also preceded in death by an infant sister Philomena.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, White Bear, Summit Hill.
