Willard J. Flickinger
Willard J. Flickinger, 79, of 1255 E. Lizard Creek Rd., Lehighton, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 5. He entered his eternal rest with his family at his side.
He was the husband of Joan A. (Rupell) Flickinger. They were married for 54 years this past Jan. 23.
He was employed by the Penn Fuel Gas Co. for 37 years as a cost accountant and meter reader before retiring in 1997.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Ray and Lorena (Reinheimer) Flickinger.
He was a graduate of Lehighton High School and the Bethlehem Business School.
Flickinger was an Army veteran, having attained the rank of Specialist 4 while serving at Ft. Knox, Ky.
He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield.
In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, watching Jimmy Johnson on the NASCAR circuit, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his widow are four daughters, Sheryl A. and Sheila D., both of Lehighton, Sharon K., wife of Jonathan Ewing of Alburtis, and Debra S., wife of Jeffrey Rakos of Jim Thorpe; a sister, Bernice Hunsicker of Lehighton; five grandchildren, Joseph Flickinger, Christina Ewing and Abigail, Owen and Madeline Rakos; and nieces and nephews.
