Allen F. Kasten Obituary
Allen F. Kasten, 78, of 5 Janet Trail, Fairfield, Pa., died Monday, April 30, in his home.
He was the husband of the late Alice V. Kasten, who died in 2001.
Born in Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Karl A. Sr. and Blanche (Fryman) Kasten.He was a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army, serving for 42 years during both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded numerous Meritorious Service awards, a Bronze Star in 1969 and the Legion of Merit in 1981.
Surviving are seven children, Brenda, wife of Christopher Bisett of Frederick, Md., David, and his wife, Lisa, of Plantation, Fla., Patricia, Jean, wife of Michael Lange, and Mark, and his wife, Lisa, all of Fairfield, Teresa, wife of Greg Shirey of York, and Susan, wife of Donald Dempsey; 12 grandchildren, Michael Shanks, Alison Binder, Johnathon Shanks, Ryan McGlaughlin, Adam Binder, Kevin Kasten, Jason Kasten, Lauren Kasten, Sarah Kasten, Jacob Kasten, Emily Dempsey and Ashley Dempsey; two great-grandchildren, Erin McGlaughlin and Xavier Binder; three sisters, Mary Bretz, Malinda Staley and Janet Horn; and three brothers, Thomas, Wayne and Merritt.
He was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, Karl A. Jr., Isabel, John, Roy, Morris and Janice.
Service: Funeral service noon Friday, May 4, Monahan Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. Interment, Fairfield Union Cemetery. Call 11 a.m.-noon Friday.
