Dana Phipps
Dana L. Phipps, 64, of Lehighton, passed away on Saturday, April 12, in his home. He was the husband of Cynthia (Allen) Phipps for 39 years.
He was a correspondent for the TIMES NEWS, Lehighton, for many years, and was also a substitute teacher in the Jim Thorpe Area School District.
Born in Beverly, Mass., he was a son of Merle Phipps of Rawley, Mass., and the late Barbara (Sinclair) Phipps.
He was a graduate of Beverly Area High School and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor's Degree in History.
Phipps attended Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Lehighton; was a volunteer for the Democratic Party in Carbon County; was involved with the Pow Wow held at the former McCall's Farm, Mahoning Township; and was a member of the Gideon's, Lehighton.
Dana was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and loved being outdoors and doing gardening.
Surviving in addition to his widow and father are a son, Timothy J., and a daughter, Rachel H., both of Lehighton; a brother Mark of Rochester, N.Y.; and a sister, Kristen Bouchard of Barrington, N.H.
He was also predeceased by a brother Brian.
