Edward L. Konsavage|
Edward L. Konsavage, 78, of Locust Valley, Barnesville, passed away Tuesday, March 25, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Teresa (Staconis) Konsavage.
He was a truck driver for the former Atlas/ICI Co. While a driver for the Atlas Powder Co., he received his "1 Million Miles of Safe Driving Award" in 1976.
Prior to retiring, he was a driver for Guers Topsoil and Mulch, New Philadelphia, where he passed the three million miles of safe driving total.
Born on the family farm in Locust Valley, he was a son of the late John and Florence (Schock) Konsavage.
A 1952 graduate of the former Mahanoy Township High School, he was an Army veteran.
Surviving are three daughters, Shelly, and her partner, Shannon Yorke, of Hometown, Cindy Frye, and her companion, Clayton Fegley of Delano, and Kassie Harding, and her companion, David Greenleaf, in Arizona; seven sons, Wesley Konsavage, and his wife, Paula, of Tamanend, Scott Konsavage, and his wife, Lilian, of Tamaqua, Rodger Betz of Shenandoah, Ken McClain, and his wife, Heather, of Allentown, Michael McClain in Virginia, David McClain of Gilberton and John McClain of Mt. Carmel; a sister Helen, wife of Robert Schrepple of Locust Valley; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Edward Lewis Jr. and Daniel McClain; a sister, Ruth Mae Devlin; and two brothers, Robert and Daniel.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, St. Peter Church, Locust Valley, with the Rev. Janet Kline officiating. Interment, church cemetery, Locust Valley. Call 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, and 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Contributions in his name may be made to the Lutheran Health Care and Hospice, 1201B N.
