Mrs. Elsie J. Hager, 89, of Jim Thorpe, died Friday, July 4, in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton.
She worked for the Central Railroad of New Jersey as a clerk and typist and then retired after working 22 years at the former Mary Ann Dress Factory, Jim Thorpe. Born in Duryea, she was a daughter of the late Howell Sr. and Elsie (Barthlomew) Williams.
- She was the widow of Frank J. Hager, who died Jan. 31, 2000.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, the Women's Club of the church, the FYI of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, the Laurel Blossoms (Red Hats), ILGW Union and Railroad Lodge, and was a 60-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Frank J. of Cumberland, Md.; two granddaughters, Danielle Dwinnells and Alexandra Been; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, David of Jim Thorpe, Edward of Palmerton and Arthur of Alsbach, Germany.
She was also predeceased by two sisters, Rochael and Betty Jean; and three brothers, Howell, Harden and William.
Service: Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe; Mass of the Christian Burial 11 a.m., Immaculate Conception Church, Jim Thorpe, with the Rev. James J. Ward officiating. Interment, parish cemetery, Jim Thorpe. Call 6-8 o'clock tonight and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Contributions in her name may be made to the church, 180 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, Pa. 18229.
