Gaudencio S. Dizon M.D.

Dr. Gaudencio S. Dizon, MD Dr. Gaudencio S. Dizon MD, 82, of 2307 Mahoning Dr. East, Lehighton, passed away Tuesday, April 7, at Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton. He was the husband of Visitacion Pattugalan Dizon. They were married for 46 years last Sept. 23, 2008. Born in the Philippine Islands, he was a son of the late Dr. Gaudencio E. and Mercedes Dizon.He received his BS degree in Pre-Med and also his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of St. Thomas.For over 35 years, he operated a private practice in Jim Thorpe and was a staff member of the Gnaden Huetten Memorial and Palmerton Hospitals.He served as the Director of Medical Care at Gnaden Huetten Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and served as the school physician in Jim Thorpe, Palmerton, and Lehighton Area School Districts.Dr. Dizon was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton.He was a member of the Pa. Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and served as president of The Foundation of Disaster and Medical Mission and their drug maker laboratory.He was a former member of the Lions Club.Surviving is his wife, Visitacion; three sons, Dr. Kenneth P. Dizon of Phoenix, Ariz., Dr. Joseph G. Dizon and his wife Dr. Ida Dizon of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dr. Michael G. Dizon and his wife Christina of Lake Harmony; two sisters, Dr. Milagros Nunag and her husband Dr. Benigno Nunag of Wilmington, DE, Dr. Imelda Buenaventura and her husband Mariano Buenaventura of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, Saturnino of The Philippine Islands; a granddaughter, Leila Dizon of Los Angeles, CA; and nieces and nephews.He was pre deceased by a sister, Lydia Dizon. Services: Prayers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, 4th and Iron St., Lehighton, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 3rd and Coal St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Philip F. Rodgers officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Visitation Wednesday, April 15 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, April 16, 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Vigil Service at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
