Harold A. DeRemer
Harold A. DeRemer, 97, of Allentown, died Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Eleanor G. (Billig) DeRemer. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past Dec. 24.
He was an electrical engineer for the former General Electric, Allentown, for 32 years before retiring in 1983.
Born in Jim Thorpe, he was a son of the late Irvin and Emma (Rabe) DeRemer.
He earned his professional engineer's license in 1964, and, during his tenure with G.E., he was credited with eight patents.
He was a former member of the former Salem U.C.C. Church, Allentown, where he was active with all facets of the church, including chairing three Pastoral Search committees.
Harold was a current member of St. John U.C.C., Emmaus.
He was a warrant officer junior grade in the Army during World War II.Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, the Rev. Dr. David H., and his wife, Kathy, of Bethlehem; and two grandchildren, Amy, wife of Shawn Silvoy of Bethlehem, and Christopher DeRemer, and his wife, Siobhan, of Allentown.
He was also predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, Phoebe Home-Moyer Hall, 1925 Turner St., Allentown, with the Rev. Paul Knappenberger and Chaplain Albert Martin officiating. Interment with military honors, Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday. Arrangements by Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center St., Nazareth.
