Mrs. Irene M. Mertz, 69, of Interchange Road, Lehighton, died Thursday, Aug. 9, in her home. She was the wife of Bruce E. Mertz. They celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on May 28.

She was a trimmer for the former Bishop's Mill, Weissport, and the former Indigo Jeans, Franklin Township, and had worked the last six years as a registrar at the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Radics) Schlenner.
She was a 1960 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and received an associates degree from Allentown Business School.
The deceased was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bowmanstown.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Conrad E. Ringeisen, and his wife, Catherine, of Woodbury, Conn.; a daughter Donna, wife of Michael Maleski of Nescopeck; two stepsons, Thomas D. Mertz, and his wife, Brenda, of Lititz, and Stephen M. Mertz, and his companion, Ray, in Georgia; a brother William, and his wife, Lois, of Blandon; two sisters, Anna Borouch of Northampton and Elizabeth, wife of George Kropf of Walnutport; eight grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by five brothers, John, Walter, Edward, Joseph and Clarence; and three sisters, Theresa (baby), Mary Williams and Margaret Gerhart.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bowmanstown, with the Rev. Dennis Schappell officiating. Interment, Franklin Heights Cemetery, Franklin Twp.
