John E. Houser, 41, of Cressona, died Monday, Nov. 26. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Sedar) Houser. They observed their 21st wedding anniversary on June 7.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late William J.C. and Dorothy E. (Sabol) Houser.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Houser was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a brother, William J.C. Jr., and his wife, Karen, in South Carolina; a nephew and a great-nephew, both of Nebraska; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his father-in-law, Michael Sedar of Tamaqua; a sister-in-law Carol, wife of Marlin Troxell of New Ringgold; and a brother-in-law, Michael A. Sedar, and his wife, Lori, of Leesport.
Service: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment, private. Call 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the church. Contributions to help defray the cost of funeral expenses may be made to the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 W. Penn Pike, New Ringgold.
