Obituary Condolences

Jon Grow, 70, of Parkton, Md., died at his home on Sunday, Sept. 30, of pancreatic cancer.
He was co-founder and was executive director of the National Association of Bunco Investigators (NABI), and a recognized expert in investigating confidence crimes.
He as employed by the Baltimore City Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 1992 to focus his energy on the operations of NABI, the non-profit organization he co-founded in 1984.
Born in Little Rock, Ark., he was a son of the late Bettie Hamilton and Joseph Albert Grow Jr.
He was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Grow, Baltimore; a son, Jeffrey Grow, Shrewsbury, Pa.; a sister, Susan Grow, wife of Byron Leiby, of Tamaqua; stepmother, Joice Grow, in Tennessee; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Grow.
Service: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at noon at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to NABI, P.O. Box 1725, Bayonne, N.J. 07002; so the organization he co-founded and loved can continue its important work in bringing criminals to justice.
