Mrs. Martha Boruta
Mrs. Martha Boruta, 91, of 360 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, due to an earlier injury.
She was the widow of the beloved Michael M. Bor-uta, who died in 2001.
She worked for the former Natalie fashions Company, Palmerton, where she managed the shipping department for over 28 years before retiring in 1987.Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Klutchna) Lazar-Oleksyn.
She was a lifelong member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, Palmerton, where she loved attending Divine Liturgy services.
The deceased was a 1940 graduate of Palmerton High School.
She was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
She enjoyed bowling in the ladies league at the former Zinc Bowl, Palmerton, yearly vacations to the Jersey shore and taking many day trips. Martha loved her hometown of Palmerton. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
Surviving are a son, Michael P., and his wife, Theresa, of Hampden Township, Cumberland County; two grandchildren, Magdelaina Boruta, and her fiancé, Timothy, of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., and Michael Boruta II, and his fiancée, Shontay, of Hampden Township; a great-grandson, Cayden Michael Boruta of Hampden Township; two sisters, Pauline Pitts of Palmerton and Irene Kedl of Coplay; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Oleksyn of Bowmanstown and Catherine Wisocky of Palmerton; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Marlena; two sisters, Frances Kinald and Anna Smith; and a brother, Peter Oleksyn.
Service: Divine Liturgy 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, Palmerton, with the Rev. Evhen Moniuk officiating. Interment, parish's lower cemetery, Palmerton. Call 7-8:30 a.m. Sunday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday in the church.
