Norman George Richards, 66, of West 13th Street, Jim Thorpe, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, in his home. He was the husband of Linda (Miller) Richards.|
A self-employed accountant, he had also been employed as the controller for the Panther Valley facility of Bethlehem Steel.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Norman H. and Lois (Chase) Richards.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as a corpsman during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale.
A member of the last class, 1964, of the former Coaldale High School, he graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1974, earning a bachelor of science degree.
Richards was also a member of Carbon Lodge No. 242, F. & A.M.; a former member of the Gnaden Huetten Hospital Board; accountant for the Carbon County Hospital Authority; former member of Mahoning Valley Country Club; and member of the National Business Honor Society of Bloomsburg University.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Norman Grant of Barnesville, and his fiancee, Tiffany Zakrewsky, and Brian D. of Jim Thorpe, and his wife, Angela; a grandson, Daegan Richards; and three sisters, Hilda, wife of Ronald Berezniak of Parrish, Fla., Lois Richards of Coaldale and Joan, wife of Joseph Oliver of Coaldale.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Huynh.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
