Peter Camaioni, 87, of 148 S. Second St, Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Anna M. (Galass) Camioni. They were married for 41 years this past Jan. 13, 2013. |
Born in Nereto, Province of Abruzzo, Italy, he was a son of the late Paul and Giovanna Camioni.
He was widely known as a skilled tailor working for Brights Department Store in the 1960's. He also worked in quality control in the garment industry in the Scranton area, and owned and operated Pete's Place Men's Store in Lehighton during the 1980's.
He eventually worked as a private tailor at his residence fashioning wedding dresses and men's suits, and actually tailored suits for the Beatle's Rock and Roll Band two years ago.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, where several years ago was a member of the Holy Name Society.
In his spare time, he cherished the time spent with his wife and family and friends and as an avid angler and outdoorsman, and made numerous trips to Canada.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Joanna M., wife of Ricky Everett, of Jim Thorpe, a stepson, Russell "Rusty" Frank, and his wife Rhoda, and a stepdaughter Mary Ann, wife of John Haupt, of Lehighton, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Tony and Dominic.
Service: Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third and Coal sts., Lehighton, with concelebants Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield and Rev.
