Peter Tirpak
Peter Tirpak, 82, of 137 E. Vernon St., Summit Hill, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen (Rinko) Tirpak. They had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past Aug. 31.
Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Gazo) Tirpak.
He was a graduate of the former Summit Hill High School and of McCann's Business School.
Peter was the owner and president of the Northeast Chemical & Supply Company in Lansford.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1951-1954.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lansford.
He was a past president of the Lansford Lions Club and a current member of the Summit Hill Lions Club. He was a member of the Panther Valley Stock Club.
Peter was an avid golfer and member of the Mahoning Valley Country Club.
Surviving, along with his wife, is a son, Thomas P. Tirpak, and his wife Janel, of Summit Hill; a daughter, Joyce Tirpak of Summit Hill; a twin sister, Susan Dopira of Summit Hill; grandchildren, Nicole Mizak, of Breinigsville, Jennifer Evans, and her husband Chris, of Breinigsville, Matthew Tirpak, and his wife Tamara, of Coaldale, and Danielle Milesky, and her husband Frank, of Huntersville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Gianna Evans and Kroy Tirpak; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, John, George, Michael, and Joseph; sisters, Mary Yevchak, Anna Pater, and Helen Pazdon.
Service: is Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, with the Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelsky officiating. Military interment will follow at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Summit Hill. Calling hours are Saturday from 8-10 a.m.
