Mrs. Phyllis A. Dempsey, 83, formerly of Hazard Road, Palmerton, died Monday afternoon, April 7, in the Village at Palmerton. She was the widow of John W. Dempsey Sr., who died in 1989.
She was a machine operator for the former Barson and Bishop Co.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Wojtassek) Pfeiffer.She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Palmerton.
- She also had worked in assembly for the former A.T. & T. Manufacturing Corporation.
The deceased volunteered for the American Red Cross.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane A., wife of Larry Schweibinz of Palmerton; two sons, Robert J., and his wife, Carmen, of Fort Washington, Md., and John W. Jr. of Palmerton; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sonia, Linsey and Aaron; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecilia, wife of Michael Sotak of Lansdale, and Dolores, wife of Nelson Heffelfinger of Northampton; a sister-in-law, Juanita Pfeiffer of Lehighton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Semmel; and a brother Bernard.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, with the Rev. Frank A. Hanincik officiating. Interment, Sacred Heart New Cemetery, Palmerton.
