Obituary Condolences

Raymond Allen Anthony, 82, of Kunkletown, died Monday, Jan. 7, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Smith) Anthony. They observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in September.
Born at the 57 Hotel, Kunkletown, he was a son of Evelyn C. (Green) Anthony of Jonas and the late Raymond H. Anthony.
A mechanic by trade, he retired from Roadway Express, Tannersville, in 1992.
He was a Korean War veteran and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2540 and the American Legion Post 724, Wind Gap.
Anthony was a member of the St. Matthew United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, and the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. and the Kunkletown Rod and Gun Club.
He was an officer of the Grundsow Lodsch Nummer Tzae; a former member of the Four-County Firemen's Police; and a member of the Four-County Firemen.
A farmer and an avid hunter, he was known for his smoked turkeys.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are three children, Sharon Fay, wife of William Solt of Kunkletown, and Beth Evelyn, wife of Arthur Thompson of Fayetteville, Ga.; a son, Ray Dean Anthony, and his wife Karen (Haffner), of Kunkletown; nine grandchildren, Julie M. Solt, Meredith S. Capuano, Jerome W. Solt, Marc A. Anthony, Zachary J. Anthony, Samuel D. Anthony, Evelyn A. Coen, Emma B. Coen and Angelina L. Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Solt, Madisson Solt, Delainey Solt and Cheyenne Solt; four brothers, Gilbert, Floyd, and his wife, Rose, Richard, and his wife, Annette, and Blaine, and his wife, Karen; and four sisters, Marie Borger, wife of the late Martin Borger, Jean, wife of Ronald Green, Linda, wife of Dale Greenzweig, and Carol Serfass.
Service: Memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, St. Matthew United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, with the Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Cremation will have taken place in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. Contributions in her name may be made to St. Matthew UCC Building Fund, 102 Church Rd., Kunkletown, Pa. 18058, or the Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 357, Kunkletown, Pa. 18058. Arrangements by Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Rt. 209, Brodheadsville.
