Richard "Dick" Barilla, 76, of 1126 Lower Nis Hollow Rd., Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 15, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Charlotte B. (Bossard) Barilla. They were married for 56 years last June 16.
Born in Ashfield, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Latzko) Barilla.
He served our country with the U.S. Army in Germany, where he obtained knowledge in the printing/graphic arts industry.
He later worked for DuPont Printing and was the owner/operator of Techna-Graphics & Techna-Plastics for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton.
Barilla belonged to American Legion Post 314, Lehighton, where he loved to play cards.
He served as a board member at Rodale Press, Emmaus, for several years.
In his spare time, he loved to travel, read, garden and spend time with his family. Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Debbie J., wife of Brad Doll, and Kathy, wife of Nik Millen, both of Lehighton; a son, Joseph M., and his wife, Lynn, of Coopersburg; a brother Robert, and his wife, Ulle, a sister, Mary Louise, wife of Barry Latshaw, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Barilla, all of Lehighton; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a brother Stephen.
Service: Prayers will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton; Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m., SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, with the Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating. Interment, parish cemetery, Lehighton. Call 8-10 a.m. Tuesday.
