Verna Lazorchick, 85, of Nesquehoning entered into eternal rest, Saturday, August 31, 2013 in St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. She was the widow of the late George Lazorchick Jr. who passed away December 21, 1978.
She was employed as a seamstress for 38 years in Nesquehoning, Jim Thorpe, and Lansford until retiring in 1993. Verna was a member of St. John's Russian Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning, where she was very active in all church activities. She was a long standing member and past president of St. John's Women's Club and spent numerous hours pinching pirohi, where her outgoing demeanor will be surely be missed. She was also a member of the Nesquehoning VFW Ladies Auxiliary, several area bowling leagues, and participated in the Panther Valley Senior Olympic Games.
- Born in Coxeville, PA she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Mondell) Klimkosky.
Verna was a 1946 graduate of Hazleton High School and a former ombudsman for the Carbon County Office of Aging and assisted with the Red Cross Blood Mobile.
Surviving is a son George J. and his companion Phyllis Kennedy of Camp Hill, PA; brothers Raymond and his wife Lorain of Rockville, MD and Eugene of Freemont, CA; sisters-in-law Sandra of Spring City, PA and Frances of Carlisle, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters Irene Spadell and Margaret Andrejco and brothers John and Peter Klimkosky.
Services: A Panachida Service will be held Thursday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning followed by a funeral service in St. John's Russian Orthodox Church, 9 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, with Rev. Robert J. Teklinski officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Nesquehoning. Viewing Wednesday 6-8:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:30 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home. A Parastas Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Donations in her name may be made to St. John's Russian Orthodox Church. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
