William E. Sherman Jr. 87, of Lancaster, formerly of Lehighton, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, in Conestoga View, Lancaster. He was the loving husband of June J. (Begel) Sherman for 64 years.

Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late William E. Sr. and Mildred (Sherwood) Sherman.A veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the Army, having been highly decorated for his service.
- He was a truck driver for the former Modern Transfer Company, Allentown, before retiring.
He was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS posts, both of Lehighton, the Lehighton Fire Company and Teamsters 773.
He was an avid bowler and a big PSU football fan, and enjoyed NASCAR and especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff at Conestoga View for the exceptional care that was given to Bill during his time there.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his children, Donna L., wife of Dr. William West of Lititz, Linda L., wife of William Luksavage of Tamaqua, and William E. III, and his wife, Sally, and Brenda Abel, both of Northampton; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Service: Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz.
