Kay M. Zern
Kay M. Zern, 64, of 996 Mill Road, Lehighton passed into eternal rest on Jan. 24, 2014, at The Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Guy F. Zern III. They were married for 29 years last December 15, 2013.
Born in New Mahoning, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Rose M. Broney Gombert Sr.
She was a graduate of Lehigh County Community College in Allentown, where she received an associate's degree in executive secretarial science.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for The Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She previously was employed at the Gombert Family Store in Mahoning Township as a store clerk, and had served as a Mahoning Township zoning officer.
Kay was a member of The New Life Assembly of God Church in Tamaqua.
In her spare time, she was a homemaker and loved to crochet, do needle point, cook, bake, and hold picnics for family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, James E. Gombert Jr. and his wife Laurie of Macungie; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton; with the Rev. Ed L. Noftz officiating. Call 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment in Towamensing Cemetery, Fireline Road, Palmerton.
