Mrs. Mary C. Moore
Mrs. Mary C. Moore, 75, of Tamaqua, died Friday, Feb. 7. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years Randall B. Moore.
Born in Minersville, she was a daughter of the late Jerome J. and Helen (Stro-bavich) Cleary.
Mary graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School in 1956.A lay teacher at Holy Guardian Angels in the Reading area, Mary was loved by her second grade students and was nominated for teacher of the year.
In the summers, she enjoyed being a camp counselor in New England.
Throughout her life, she was active in the community and political and church organizations, having often held leadership positions.
Mary was involved in the Garden Club, Meals on Wheels and the Catholic Women's Education Association.
In addition, she was a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
With the 1980 U.S. census, she began a very successful career in social science research. She worked for the U.S. Census Bureau, the University of North Carolina's Research Triangle Institute and the University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center. At NORC, Mary rose through the ranks and attained the level of divisional field manager.
Mary was devoted to making her family and friends happy in every way. She enjoyed traveling, socializing, entertaining and cooking everyone's favorite foods. Her passions included playing games with family and friends, watching the Philadelphia Phillies and reading.
Mary made a new friend everywhere she went and always delivered a smile. This was true even after suffering a massive stroke. Mary was a special person and will be missed by many.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a brother Joseph, and his wife, Lois, of Palm Coast, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Paul Cataldo of Temple, Pa.; and two sons, Patrick, and his wife, Catherine, and their children, Christopher and Grace, of Schwenksville, Pa.; and Matthew, and his wife, Jackie, and their children, Helena and Matthew Jr., of Fairfax, Va.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Cataldo.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment, parish cemetery, Tamaqua.
