Paul J. Baksa
Paul J. Baksa, 61, of 244 S. Second St., Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 17, in his residence.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by the New Jersey Zinc Co./Horsehead Industries, Palmerton, in the security and mail delivery departments.
Born in New Brunswick, N.J., he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (Hontz) Baksa.
He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, where he volunteered in the kitchen and assisted at many school activities.
Baksa was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of private first class with the Signal Corps at Whiting Field, Milton, Fla.
He was a member of the Lehighton AMVETS and was a previous member of American Legion Post 314, Lehighton.
The deceased was a Past High Priest at Tamaqua Royal Arch Chapter and was a former member of F. & A.M. Lodge No. 621, Lehighton.
An avid sports enthusiast, he loved watching New York Yankees baseball and New York Giants football.
Surviving are a daughter, Angela C., wife of George Barthold of Lehighton; a brother, Dennis J. of Gambrills, Md.; two granddaughters, Julia and Victoria Barthold of Lehighton; and his former wife, Fay Herr.
Service: Memorial Mass 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, with the Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating, followed by full military honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Private interment at convenience of family. Contributions in his name may be made to the Carbon Co. Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, Pa. 18240. Arrangements by Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton.
