Vincent
Mrs. Betty L. Vincent, 81, of 150 W. Ridge St., Coaldale, passed away Monday, March 3, in the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital Geriatric Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of George J. Vincent. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past Nov. 29.
She last worked as an administrative coordinator for the Coaldale HUD Block Grant Program.
Born in Mott, N.D., she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Agnes (Meyer) Gilbert.
She was a member of the former SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Coaldale, where she was the organist for 39 years and was a past president of the Ladies Guild. She was also a past president of the Daughters of Mary, a past financial secretary of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of the St. Ann's Society Branch 417, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Betty was a current member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five children, David, and his wife, Ruth, of Hazleton, Timothy, and his wife, Rosemary, of Coaldale, Sharon, wife of Tim Oravec of Andreas, Kevin, and his wife, Suzanne, of Matthews, N.C., and Robert, and his wife, Marcy, of Lehighton; a sister, Bonnie Craig in Georgia; two brothers, Charles of Mesa, Ariz., and Gary of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandsons, four granddaughters, a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother Vern; and three sisters, Audrey Roemmich, Ardyce Gilbert, and Mary Dower.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, SS. Peter and Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment, SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Skrabak-Parambo Funeral Home, 210 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, and 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church.
