Mrs. D. Loretta Begel|
Mrs. D. Loretta Begel, 92, of 142 S. Fifth St., Lehighton, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the widow of Adam H. Begel.
She formerly worked as a Bell Telephone operator from 1939-59, and later worked for the former Barson & Co. Dress Mills and the former Nu Fran Dress Manufacturing Co. until retiring in 1984.
Born in Jim Thorpe, she was a daughter of the late S. Stanton and Edith H. (Esrang) Downs.
She was a 1938 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton.
In her spare time, she loved to travel with her husband.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Carol Downs in Arizona and Helen Downs of Newtown, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Horn, and an infant sister Catherine; four brothers, Robert, Samuel "Jack",Warren "Jim", and Thomas.
