Kathryn Rodgers
Kathryn (McCarthy) Rodgers of Jim Thorpe passed away Thursday evening March 6, 2014 in Blue Mountain Health System, Gnaden Huetten Campus. She was the wife of the late Philip F. Rodgers Jr. who passed August 13, 2006.
Born March 11, 1928 in Pleasant Valley (Quakertown) she was a daughter to the late Anna (Kramer) and Jonas McCarty.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Emmerick) Fischer and brother, Ralph Emmerick.
Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Ryan 911, Germantown Grove Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Gnaden Huetten Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and in the past, loved singing with the Bicentennial Chorus and St Joseph's choir as well as volunteering at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Mary, wife of Michael Marzen; and Kathleen Becker both of Jim Thorpe; Bernadette, wife of John Marzen of Lehighton and Anita, wife of Barry Achey of Seemsville; sons, the Rev. Philip of Mohnton, James and his wife, Barbara; Vincent and his wife, Natalie, both of Jim Thorpe; Thomas of Kileen, Texas and Patrick and his wife, Summer of Jim Thorpe. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan who passed away April 2005. She treasured her 19 grandchildren and cherished her eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the David J. Stianche Funeral Home, 123 Center St., Jim Thorpe, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening in the church, from 6 until 8 p.m. and again Tuesday morning in the funeral home 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services in the funeral home.
