Mrs. Virginia M. Klatka, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, 82, of Hometown, passed away on Saturday evening, April 5, while in the care of her family. She was the widow of Albert M. Klatka, who died Dec. 11, 2007.
Born in Trenton, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Petronella (Palonis) Karlavage.
She was a graduate of the former Delano Township High School.
The deceased enjoyed cake-decorating, sewing and flower gardening.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, and a former member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Society.
Virginia was faithful in worship at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mahanoy City. In her earlier years, she served as a chosen member of the Archbishop's Committee of Christian Mothers, Diocese of Philadelphia, where she represented her local parish of St. Casimir, Mahanoy City.
She and her late husband also assisted at Marriage Preparation Classes sponsored by the Diocese of Allentown for intended newlyweds of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are five daughters, Karen Cooke, Alicia Brode, Dianne Burns, Suzanne Stockunas and Christy; a son, Michael A.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the last member of her immediate family of 15 sisters and brothers.
Service: Private Mass of Christian Burial, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Arrangements by E.
